I’m trying to migrate my old VM store SSD to a ZoL on server.

“STH I found info on my LSI 9271-8i and LSI 9300-8i here. The Foreign Drive ProblemĪlthough this question has been asked many times to date, here is the latest question: That is causing the drive to be labeled as foreign. What is happening is that the drive was previously inserted on another machine and a LSI/ Avago configuration was previously written on it. For years now this question has come up in various forms so today it is time to show the easy fix.

Any thoughts on how to clear this last hurdle? Do I need to have all the drives pulled? I'm using the 9210-8i_Package_P20_IR_IT_FW_BIOS_for_MSDOS_Windows file which I believe is the most current. Here is one from the mailbag about how to fix a drive labeled as foreign by a LSI/ Avago SAS controller when it is inserted into a system.

well actually rEFInd which I'm sure I'll want to shoot myself trying to remove. There's no EUFI when I start it just goes to Windows. I pointed it to my 2108it.bin file and it throws me an error.Īny thoughts.

So I just tried UPDATE FIRMWARE as seen below. Oddly enough just googling and downloading the storage manager I had found didn't cut it but the one from IBM did. Saw an older post about using storage manager in windows. After all the back and forth and this HP absolutely NOT letting me make a USB boot drive for EUFI regardless of MBR or GPT or whatever I tried (I could do Ubuntu but I don't know linux and am lost there). Anyone know where to find the latest firmware? So the IR.bin worked the IT.bin is what's throwing the error now. ***UPDATE*** Was able to use the 2108IR.bin file to flash from 15.00.00 to 20.00.00 (or whatever it is). efi, selected it, then followed everything from there. Put the ShellX64.EFI on the usb drive then booted to the bios where I could select to boot to. His link is dead but I googled for SHELL V1 UEFI flash and it popped up. Anyway the key here was finding the appropriate shell. Or maybe because it’s a Lowe level computer. RUFUS did not want to make a boot drive the HP would acknowledge.

Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context.įollowed this guide which I knew most of except one thing.
